Spring Break Monologue Boot Camp

Got a monologue you’re prepping for a competition, audition, or school presentation? This camp offers you a way to completely explore all aspects of the acting craft with a focus of making your monologue the very best it can be. This camp is also great training ground for script interpretation, audition preparation, and auditioning in general.

Curriculum

Day 1 – Exercises that build the basis to begin the work:

- warm up, grounding, breathing and energy bring you to the present moment
- stretching your vocal and physical range through voice and movement exercises
- ensemble improvisation to gain new perspectives on story, character and purpose of the piece
- become your animal, discovering the primal instincts of the character
- Day 1 Homework: Prepare your Moment Before

Day 2 – Applying the building blocks and taking your choices for a test drive:

- warm up, grounding, breathing and energy bring you to the present moment
- stretching your vocal and physical range through voice and movement exercises
- getting out of your comfort zone and going over the top with some bad acting
- putting the monologues on their feet by grounding yourself in the given imaginary circumstances
- Day 2 Homework: Prepare your Audition

Day 3 – Taking responsibility for your work:

- prepping for the audition before camp, bring your photo/resume to the camp audition
- taking your first swing, walking into the room and auditioning as if it’s the real deal
- talk back, what worked and what didn’t
- preparing yourself for the first ten seconds you’re in the room
- tailoring your warm up to your specific piece
- performing your piece
